ok so, I've been seeing a lot of opinions about yaoi readers, or fujioshi's, and that they are mostly fetishizing MLM.. and though I do not fetishize it, rather just enjoy reading yaoi more than other genres, I wonder if that's still consider it?? idk, what I am rlly asking here is that when does something rlly become fetishizing?? is it rlly bad to rlly like yaoi?? what's your opinions? I'd like to be more informed about this! Thanks in advance! (⊙…⊙ )

That's you're internalized misogyny talking if you're cringing. You're basically putting women on higher standards when it comes to romance. t8nt3d

Nah I'm saying that a lot of romances have the basic tropes that remind me of some very cringy tv shows and books I used to enjoy, just imagine twilight or highschool musical and you might see what I was meaning, I actually enjoy it more often than not.

Ill just add it here. Its because fetishizing gay(including other genders) people is like disregarding their dignity. Its like you treat them like an object which you shouldnt be. I think this also applies to r... bloom

That's easy to explain. Fetishizing = homophobic. t8nt3d

Ill just add it here. Its because fetishizing gay(including other genders) people disregards their dignity. Its like you are treating them like an object which you shouldnt be. I think this also applies to races. Like fetishizing black people equates to being a racist.

I agree. But you also phrase it by saying yaoi does it better. Do you see my point? All genres fall under stereotypical cringefest in one way or another. BL is not above that.

As long as you don't force the stereotypes found in yaoi onto real-life people you should be good. Shipping real men because they're cute is a little creepy as well since it means you want them together just because they're good-looking and lgbt+ relationships aren't about looks and sex life. And if you think gay couples are disgusting in real life because they aren't as pretty as 2D men then yes, you are a fetishizer. This is my opinion as someone that's part of the community so yeah.

Nope, there's actually a reason that many girls prefer yaoi over some straight stories, yaoi is easier for girls to enjoy since while reading straight romances we tend to even subconsiously imagine how we'd rea... Official.Simp

hold up im kinda concerned about this. Please realise that having men take on 'vulnerable' roles is exactly the stereotype feminine roles. Like these vulnerable men are still exploited by masculine men. A lot of yaoi stories glorifies toxic masculinity and you should be aware of that it is not rlly refreshing idk

thank u!! I agree! hypocrites that enjoy something fictional while hating on it in real life isn't ok.. as well as judging relationships based on looks and if you find them compatible or not, it's really up to the people in the relationship.
