I get so mad whenever someone mentions that it's fetishizing. In some cases, it is, and that is when you not only fetishize 2d gay men but real men irl, and they don't even have to be gay. Something like, "ayo dude Kyle and Parker are totally gay for each other! You think they bang each other??" The next thing is whether you only read yaoi for smex scenes, and 'get into it' with it. So, as long as you don't fetishize real men and only read yaoi for the smut, you're good. Some people say yaoi is only for gay men to read, no! Yaoi was actually designed for women to read because women don't want to project themselves, as they do in shoujo. Hope this clears up the minds of those who think yaoi is fetishizing. (/TДT)/

Nope, there's actually a reason that many girls prefer yaoi over some straight stories, yaoi is easier for girls to enjoy since while reading straight romances we tend to even subconsiously imagine how we'd react to a man doing those things which means a lot of straight romances seem way cringier while reading yaoi you can focus on their relationship since you're less likely projecting yourself into the mc, second of all, it's a little taboo, anybody reads straight romances while chances are, if you're reading a bl, chances are you have read one or were looking for one, meaning not everybody reads yaoi. And finally, it allows you to see men being vulnerable, many straight manga's characters go by the stereotypical gender norms while there is hardly any such thing in yaoi, making it very refreshing. As long as you know you're not fetishizing bl it's completely ok.
ok so, I've been seeing a lot of opinions about yaoi readers, or fujioshi's, and that they are mostly fetishizing MLM.. and though I do not fetishize it, rather just enjoy reading yaoi more than other genres, I wonder if that's still consider it?? idk, what I am rlly asking here is that when does something rlly become fetishizing?? is it rlly bad to rlly like yaoi?? what's your opinions? I'd like to be more informed about this! Thanks in advance! (⊙…⊙ )
