The mangaka typically, if not almost always portrays the younger or cuter looking characters as the seme. I think she's got a thing for the gap personalities (where they look one way but act differently, or dominating seme-like characters, usually older and/or prideful). I totes get where you're coming from--it's not typical, but it's also sort of refreshing bc it's not the usual trope we expect (≧∀≦)
