sometimes they marry for political power or support for stability, since if the concubine's family is powerful, marriage would definitely bind those 2 powerful houses together... not just for producing heirs.

and what do you think is the role of a woman in a marriage? Give birth to an heir, right? If he doesn't sleep with them, what use do they have in the end. Also, he is technically their husband so that is his duty to them.

yeah I thought it was gonna be some cutesy stuff since the emperor was portrayed like a love struck puppy always admiring and sighing about Pol... then sht went medieval and I'm suddenly faced with a very different perspective.

Well, I checked on some of the spoilers about the web novel and it sounds like the emperor was real trash at first... this webtoon though, portrayed him in a more forgiving light, so the recent events caught me off guard.

You do understand that humans use fictional creations to comment on and examine the human condition? Not every work serves to feed into what people want to hear. This "feminist webtoon" is not merely a piece written to bolster what feminists want to hear in order to keep them pacified and out of conversation. In order to be meaningful and make impactful statements about reality that others will reflect seriously upon, of course a work will present a realistic perspective.

Also, it is self-serving to block an entire group into a single mindset. Being sexually exclusive to the one you have romantic feelings for is not an ultimate feminist belief, not the central point. Feminism is not about the physical act of sex: it is about having equal rights, power and agency. I stated that I wished the Emperor did something else other than conform to society's demands of him to politically marry, because if you've been paying attention, this webtoon started off as a story about breaking norms as a woman in a time where misogyny was rampant. The emperor had a hand in helping Pol reach her potential because (I believe) that he believes in her capabilities.


Coming from that perspective, I was expecting the emperor to break norms too as much as Pol had succeeded in doing so. And by breaking norms, I meant for the emperor to actually marry Pol by biding his time to strengthen his power and in the pinacle of his success, pursue Pol and marry her. -Not this conformity to society because he wants to be a fair king.


So please, stop making stories out of thin air. Coming here acting like you're all cool with your "thought provoking" definition of feminism and reading too much into a simple idea. Get over yourself.
