I am going to disagree with you a little. Hue’s biggest flaw is that he is extremely possessive when it comes to Lucia, and he knows it. What makes his character non-toxic is that he works around his possessiveness in a way he can live with while not oppressing his wife and maintaining her happiness. He is so good at hiding what he does “behind the scenes” that Lucia genuinely doesn’t know that it is her husband the reason why her interaction with men is limited. You also have to keep in mind that Lucia believes that Hue is not in love with her hence she doesn’t make the connection that Hue is the mastermind behind all the activities she does with Kate. Unlike, Kate, who has figured out Hue/Hugo and is messing with him by leading Lucia on. But you can’t consider him toxic, because although he finds Kate irritating, he doesn’t do or say anything (like breaking up their friendship) to her because she is Lucia’s only friend in the North.
Overly possessive behavior where he tries to prevent her from even being in the same space as men is a behavior that’s kind of toxic and it’s manipulative he’s just manipulating behind the scenes however i don’t think he’s even a terrible person for it, his behavior, however is still wrong. And i agree that he isn’t the most toxic person especially for the fact that he keeps kate around because he knows other wise it would make lucia sad and puts her happiness first which is something i respect within him. I understand he feels the need to be protective of the person of his affection due to fears of losing her so i think he can be easily forgiven for it as no one is perfect literally everyone has committed one toxic behavior or another that doesn't mean i believe that this relationship is suddenly toxic as a whole because i don’t believe that all the point is what he did is a controlling tactic that is inherently toxic but it’s minor
me knowing the ml doing everything within his power to make everything women only is controlling and kinda toxic but still loving him with my whole heart anyway
