Man, I’m probably gonna get hate on this

But what is up with people hating Isis but loving Seth? Everyone seems to just ignore that he almost forced Isis to marry him/rape her. He drove her away from her home and then when she hid, he murdered anyone that reminded him of her? Obviously, he is a victim of Osiris and what happened to him is horrible. But he literally tried to pull that same thing on Isis, like I feel that makes it worse because he understands how it felt yet tried to do it to someone else. I just want to hear your guys thoughts.

FYI, I don’t hate Seth, I actually really enjoy his character. I’m just wondering why people hate Isis and ignore all of Seth’s? Like is it because he’s a victim of Osiris?

I don't hate Isis. I don't even hate Osiris (at some stage) either. Among the four siblings, I don't like Nepthys the most :)

But, even though I don't hate Isis, I understand why the others don't like Isis. The revenge she wanted to commit (by drowning Egypt) is understandable.

But the curse she gave Seth, no. What's more, Seth still hasn't done what you mentioned above. All Seth did was unconsciously attract the attention of a maniac (read: Osiris).

Although I didn't approve of Isis's actions cursing Seth (also one of the two actions of Isis that I didn't like, apart from giving birth to Horus to be used as a tool of revenge), I understand why she did that.

Many did not understand or provide a defense, for the curse that Isis had placed on Seth, but actually Isis's jealousy towards Seth was what drove her to do this.

Very narrow-hearted indeed. But on the one hand, this irrational act is so natural. As Ra and Sekhemet always said, in the generation of four siblings (Osiris, Isis, Seth and Nepthys), they were not completely gods like the previous generation.

The four of them have weaknesses that can be said to be fatal. Emotional and sentimental Seth. Cowardly Nepthys and always run away from responsibility. Osiris over his obsession for Seth. then Isis for her deep love for Osiris.

And ... seeing how Osiris acted so crazy about Seth. It seems to me that it is only natural, if Isis cursed Seth, knowing that the one Osiris really loves is Seth.

Maybe many don't realize, but Seth and Isis were really similar to each other.

They are both very strong gods / goddesses, one god of war and one goddess who is the leader who manages the nile river, they are both ruthless, both have explosive temperaments, are equally stubborn, both think short of the actions they take.

There was only a slight difference between them, Seth was more naive and Isis was more calculating.

And I think Isis also realized the many similarities between Seth and herself. This made her understand that the reason Osiris married her, instead of Nepthys, was because Osiris used her as Seth's substitute.

Making all the attention, affection, and love given by Osiris is only fake. Because all of that was not intended for her. Perhaps, if Osiris loved Nepthys, Isis would not have been so furious. Because even if Osiris loved Nepthys, everything Osiris did to Isis, was really shown for her.

But, because what Osiris loved was Seth ..., doesn't that mean, because of the many similarities between Isis and Seth, Osiris imagined Seth when he was with Isis.

So in conclusion, Isis cursed Seth, because she wanted Seth to feel how he was in her position. Because indirectly, Seth was the reason why she was in that position.

Wow! Your floored me with that response! You wrote it so amazingly as well. But I’m slightly confused, doesn’t it start with them discussing what happens between Seth and Isis which is the reason she left and had Horus? I’ll admit, this manhwa does confuse me at times and I heard that we’re not getting the full story since there are two versions.

Because I like to analyze the characters and characterizations in the story. And Ennead not only has a solid and interesting plot, but also a charming character.

What can be said is very rare in the Yaoi genre, because most writers create plots in a freestyle way, and the writing of characters is so inconsistent.

All the characters in the Ennead, have their strengths and weaknesses. Also the reasons for their actions, and the mindset for them seeing a condition and situation. Make them more than just puppets for the writers in the stories they make.

Even the Nepthys character that I disliked the most, was not because it was poorly written, but because it was so well written.

Yes, the conversation between Isis and Seth opened with a discussion on the night Seth wanted to forced himself on Isis and make Seth realize that Isis not only cursed him, but Isis also cursed herself.

But the flashbacks were shown, starting with Sehkemet telling Seth that Anubis was not his son, but Osiris. This led to the disclosure of Osiris' obsession with Seth, which led to Osiris threatening and raping Seth.

Then Isis, knowing about it, realized that all this time Osiris had loved Seth, performed a ritual of cursing. Isis cursed Osiris, Nepthys, Seth and herself.

    (More or less contains spoilers)

In the next few chapters, we will discuss the post-rape committed by Osiris on Seth. Where Seth mutilates Osiris, but because Osiris cannot die if not with his consent, Seth's efforts failed. Makes Seth to attempt suicide, but also fails as Osiris continues to save Seth from death. Finally Seth did a trick that forced Osiris to agree to Seth's murder on him.

But before Osiris died, he delivered a final fatal blow to Seth. By telling half truth and half lies, which was Osiris's specialty, and destroyed Seth's mind.

Osiris said Nepthys never wanted to conceive Seth's child from the start, but himself. In saying that without Osiris expanding the desert for him, Seth would be a weak god. In saying that without him, Seth would be nothing.

Seth believed that what Osiris said was true. Because he knew more or less that Nepthys loved Osiris. This was shown in a few chapters ago, where Seth said he was afraid of being forgotten by Nepthys and Anubis, when he found out that he was not Anubis' father.

If Seth didn't realize that Nepthys loved Osiris, he couldn't possibly say such a thing. But knowing more or less, Seth was afraid that Nepthys would leave him to be with Osiris.

Seth, with his mind broken, felt confused as well as angry, but because Osiris was technically dead, he took those feelings out on Isis, who was Osiris's wife. Seth tries to force himself on Isis, but he can't do it, as well as other bad deeds. Also hunt Isis, when Nepthys helps Isis escape.

Seth who forced himself on Isis also did other bad things, just like the curse that Isis gave, not something I agree with, also I really don't like it.

But seeing from Isis' reaction, the bad things that Seth had done to her, wasn't something Isis thought about. Because (for as long as I can remember) Isis never brought up that subject at all. But Isis always said, (well, not always, but often enough that I can remember that) Osiris who was obsessed with Seth, made Isis suffer.

Perhaps, the bad things that Seth did to her, Isis considered as retribution or karma for her, who cursed Seth. Despite knowing very well that Seth was completely innocent.

Then lastly, as I said before. Isis and Seth, more or less same to each other. Even now though they were opposites, their goals were more or less the same though in different ways. They both want to take revenge on Osiris.

Seth, who killed many innocent humans, made all the grudges they left behind in their deaths as material for his weapon. To finish off Osiris when they later meet in Duat. (This is the thing that makes me think that Seth is very naïve. As if Seth thinks this is a comic for young boys, where if he strengthens his weapon, he can defeat his enemy. In war maybe that applies, but if it is to defeat schemer like osiris ...
