Hey, I highly advice that you position his body on his side (laterally). Sounds to me he has sleep apnea. His tongue may obstruct his airways. Lack of oxygen on the brain will signal the body to either cough, wake up or jolt. Its like a protective mechanism that says 'Hey wake up! You need oxygen!'

I remember when I was little I had a dream that my friends and I were being chased by a wolf inside my house.
