I've seen some pretty poorly written characters, but yea iris is just another trashy one among the heap in shoujo.

yes I've read them. it doesnt change my point though, this character is designed by the author to be dislikable, with the knowledge she serves as just a function to drive a source of conflict into the plot. I'm indifferent towards her.
whereas people who hate her character still care about her.
Honestly tho, she's the typical villain like in every other manga, manhwa and drama. She's only there to be hated and the reason is "she's jealous of the main character" which is so overused and honestly very annoying.
yup. its really seems like woman in these stories are set to either two extremes:
"pure" doe eyed saints or evil tempestuous hoes. meanwhile there is a whole pallet of different kinds of male characters to choose from that come in all kinds of shades..

she's only in the story to be that one villainous bitch, and lacks any character outside that temporary role (at least shes fulling her one job properly if you do hate her) if you think about it, she doesnt even have a good reason to hate estelle, its just the usual: well y'know.. woman are prone to be jealous hoes by nature cliche. why bother giving them complexity or depth, some kind of moral grey? we just need her to be antagonistic to the MC for PLOT
so with this knowledge I'm just indifferent towards her.
I'll come back in a few months after all of this K-drama shit is done with.
