I wished they maintained his original physique and not buffed him up from a pipsqueak.
Also, if they maintained a story where few people were magically aware, this story could've been sold off as a "swordman using magic to compensate" then they could've ignored his body AND they'd still have something interesting as his weakness (him encountering a true magic swordsman or a strong swordman) instead of giving him the BS "GENIUS SWORDSMAN" motif.
I know that you can use everything that you have to defeat your enemies but he should be fighting the other cadets using pure strength, strategy and experience to defeat them. What’s the point of all the effort he poured to become a knight when every time he faces a stronger opponent (the blondy), he always uses magic. I’m not saying it’s bad but if he really wants to surpass the wall to become a knight, he should fight like a knight. We already know that he’s very knowledgeable and talented in using magic so the story should be about him becoming the a genius “swordsman” ( magic swordsman).
Just my ranting though. Peace
