"mental illness" is not a monolith it isn't just one type of disorder there's tons, it's not just anxiety and depression like some make it seem, some disorders are more serious than others and some people can't make rational choices or even remember some things they did and explaining something isn't the same as justifying it, just because people understand hat triggered his behaviours doesn't mean they aprove f them
