The idea is to enjoy the story as a whole, not inappropriately pick out one aspect or character to scrutinize. That's not why you're reading these works. If you want to condemn people for wrongdoing, read the news, watch reality tv, read lgbt shlt, but don't come here so you can rant about rape, assault, and consent. Before you were born, probably, authors like Yamamoto Kotetsuko and others were writing these stories. You're supposed to judge history by the time in which the people and history happened, not by your present day bias. If you can do that, you'll be a wiser and better student of humanity.
