I was actually thinking about your last point myself, I think that it could? be apart of the curse itself. like those that have the curse actually see an ugly face, like when he questioned his mother and asked her why she loved his father even with his ugly face, or when he mentioned about all the hair on his face.

about the curse, i think that he sees the faces of others just fine or at least Leticia´s face because she can be considered really attractive right? and from the angles the author drew Leticia during battle etc it really seemed like we were seeing her from Erden´s perspective so yeah.. i think he just strongly believes he is ugly, like maybe he sees a different face in the mirror? like he doesnt see his actual face and think its ugly but more he sees something completely distorted from reality and my theory is maybe that if through someone he loves, he comes to love himself the way he sees himself in the mirror (so he still sees that ugly face but still thinks its okay i dont hate myself anymore because my loved one loves me the way i am) then maybe the curse will be lifted
thats my theory because when she almost said he was so handsome and heard that voice from the curse the guy just said no one is allowed to tell him he is handsome or he will die, he didnt say that he had to believe he is ugly until the day he dies
and maybe erden´s father got his curse lifted thanks to erden´s mom but because erden has the same curse his mom couldnt say anything and he has to wait until he finds his special person

I had thought, after reading the summary before I read this webtoon that Leticia only cared about Erden's face.
After reading just a few chapters, of course, yhis was disproved. In reality, Leticia is a nice, brave girl who has the heart and cleverness of a leader. It's no wonder Erden admires her. In addition, she actually likes Erden way before he revealed his face. She was able to see him, in spite of his mask, just like his companions. His awkwardness, his insecurities, his happiness, his determination, his sadness and loneliness, and his gentle heart who wishes to protect those he holds dear. She, too, wishes to grow closer to him, and be by his side, supporting him all the way. Sure, she likes his face a lot, but that's not what she mainly liked about him.
That aside, I remember thinking that they were really building up to the revelation of his face, so it must definitely be worth it. Everyone has their own opinions and perspectives, but it's apparent to me that Erden is one of the most good looking shoujo webtoon MLs. Or maybe I'm just biased again? And the shade of his eyes are so otherworldly, like sparkling magical gemstones. I thought that he couldn't see his face (hidden away from mirrors or simply not seeing his face like a blank face person) but he can see his face just fine, he just think it's ugly. Does that mean that if he sees someone with an attractive face he'd think them ugly, too?
