after reading her backstory I understand why she's trying hard to deflect the Duke's affection for her bc I think it's sort of like a defense mechanism to prevent herself from getting hurt again,,, I like how her personality from the past still reflects her isekai'd version even tho it's a negative trait. its still pretty shitty to pretend dying and deeply hurting another person tho
