The MC was an unreliable narrator which caused a lot of confusion. This story requires a few reads and requires that you pay attention to certain details. The art is beautiful and the artist is great at setting the tone, when you're not confused.

Lecherous Beast is right. This story is tricky because we mostly follow Shuu’s narration which contains a lot of misinformation (especially about how he feels towards Ayame). The panels are not well designed and time-shifts and transitions are not ideal, making it even harder to follow. The translation is more than fine, I read the original and I think they did a very good job.

I generally reread chapters if I enjoy a series and I found with this one I kept picking up on so many missed details the first time around. I didn't mind the translation, I've read worse and I tend to try interpret confusing dialogue but I didn't have much issues with this one. I agree with @Pidapipo that it has a lot to do with panel designs and the time-shifts as well.

Awww finally someone that shares my sentiments! I remember reading the first few chapters for the 4th time when I finally noticed that Shuu has been keeping Ayame’s jacket all this time, and many other tiny details that I had missed. Suddenly everything fell into place and the story makes sense. It was so satisfying for me as a reader, like finding Easter eggs.
