That's not a 'first name', we Chinese don't have a first name. The Xi word is the last word in his name. Calling someone by only one word (we usually have 3 words in our name, the 1st word's the surname, 2nd and 3rd the name) in their name is indeed intimate.
ah right, I forgot that the order is not the same. By last name I mean family name, and by first name given name :))
as far as I know, calling someone only by their first name, like just "Xi", indicates a very very intimate relationship :">
