It had the red string of fate in it. I think they were childhood friends and the uke had unrequited feelings for the seme. The uke could see the string but he didn't want to be connected to the seme anymore because it was painful and I think he wanted to "free" the seme or something. So, he cut the string multiple times but it always connected back. Then one time when he was cutting it, the seme walked in on him and said something like "so it was you who kept cutting it".
