This is more than introversion. There is something that probably caused this, or something that developed over time. As a child he was open and had friends, but he has gotten to this point.

Introversion is getting exhausted in crowded places, being shy, and finding peace at home. Introversion does not cause crippling anxiety and extreme seclusion. If you think that you are an introvert, and you have bad anxiety in crowds or getting to know people then it’s probably more than introversion.

Social anxiety can be debilitating. In this character’s case, it has caused so much havoc in his life that he considered going to the hospital. He cries when barely making any contract and I bet just saying “hi” he’d think he’d cry. This is something that needs professional help, and time to get over.

Sometimes, the brightest and most outgoing people can become this way. There are numerous factors, sometimes it is biological. Most of the time it’s constant wearing down of the person.

Anxiety is a horrible thing, it can completely change a person. But it is something that can be eased with time and proper help.
