why does he act like he was forced into a life of selling himself like he could have gotten a normal job as a cashier or something ????? he ???? made himself the victim by not even trying to live a normal life?????

I don't understand why he thinks the solution to his shitty start was to make his life even shittier when his life was never even in danger after his mom left
