Oooh I went back to read it again xD. So the dark haired boy was the one that said, "time's up, your son is dead?" I thought it was the uncle. I kinda understand now. Thanks a lot :)
In the end the uncle choose to be with the nephew, so he calls the mom and he lies to her saying that her son is dead.
It's the uncle who says his nefew (son!) is dead so he could this time for sure take his nefew with him
