um I think what that is supposed to represent is a bad tan, though the lips really don't fit in, a lot of manga artists represent this huge trend in asia this way where people will tan themselves to brown but like it's very obvious their original skin colour is not that. idk a lot about tanning though but I've seen this in other mangas as well before. mostly on girls though

Nuh the artist didnt make a tanned person they made a black person bc when ever they make a black person the lips are always like that and when they make a tanned person they lips are never pink.

Its not a bad tan its a black person if they want to draw a bad tan they’d make them more orangish or something and address its a bad tan maybe in a line or something, the reason you see this in other animes is because this is how they draw black people or people with darker skin and that’s bad
Well now you know, research black face and understand why this upsets black people, whites would darken their skin in brown and/or pure black and leave the parts around their mouth their skin color to make it seem like they have big white lips to ridicule black people, this shit is heart breaking so now you know and now you know why its offensive
The way the black character was drawn was so rude, so terrible, how is no one talking about this? Does this artist know how to draw? I know its Korean but have they ever seen do’s and don’ts? Or seen references? Do they know how to even draw? I’m an artist and i’m also black so trust me when I say this bitch fucked up
