Most coursera have two sets of ties, one that ties the upper half from breasts to just under the ribs, right above the waist, and one that ties from right above the waist to the hips. That's why the "whale bones" were able to crack ribs, compress the lungs, and shift organs in the female body. What I think is painful is chasing a knee in the back as a corset it pulled tight enough to break your ribs just because men thought women should choke on their breasts and have a 12 inch waistline........oh wait they still think that!
I don't think men think that.
And while it can be partially attributed to men, it was also the desire of women to be seen as attractive.
It's not like at a specific era men started saying, 'you better wear a corset'.
It was more likely that women adopted the trend themselves, then as time passed it became a social norm.
So forced onto women by societal pressure, sure. but by men, no.
ughhhh, watching that corset tying is so uncomfyyyy, its supposed to be tied in the middle. No wonder they're passing out and in painnnnnnnnnnnn, their spines are all messed up
