yeah it felt weird to me at first too. but when I saw that people mistook him for a girl and stuff because of his looks and that it actually made him kinda insecure, I felt for him. like idk how to explain it, but even in real life there’s people that look significantly younger than they actually are and dating can be a real challenge. People view their romantic partner as a weirdo when they’re actually the same age . Anywayyys, this is a mess sorry lol. Basically I completely get where you’re coming from! I just felt like offering my point of view on it :))

The only reason I found it uncomfortable was because in real life, a person wasn't a written character for a romance. In a manga, it was inteded to be read as a love interest. So I just found that thought constantly in the back of my mind

The kid looks like a baby. It felt wrong to look at him as a love interest for someone above the age of 16.
I had to turn off my brain and look at him differently, imagining that he looked like an adult.
Just with big cheeks and a wierd chin.
So he eventually just started to look creepy to me.
It was a fluffy story, sure. Kinda. But it's a fraction of a milimeter from giving me pedophile vibes. I don't understand how no one else has seen it like I do, jesus. Not that there's anything wrong with finding the guy cute. Sure, he looks like a baby, of course that's cute. I'm saying I couldn't NOT see him as an ACTUAL BABY from his face and clumsiness, giving the whole story an unconfortable vibe for me. But that IS just me, so don't worry if you didn't see it that way ╮(￣▽￣)╭
