The one thing I'm sure of, is that I really want to slap the mc's mother silly. The way she talked to him and what she said to him makes it painfully obvious she's one of the greatest sources of his deep-seated insecurity. I can even bet the mc might have managed to get over that horrible experience if his mother didn't keep rubbing it in.
