ok so is shipping kpop idols together fetishizing?

Not a kpop fan but I honestly find it kinda weird, like they’d be doing threads on twitter on what their sexuality is as if they’re not REAL people

I’m a Kpop fan and honestly with my experience in that department..... I sorta draw the line there :/ I only ship/simp 2d peeps, in my opinion things get messy when the person is REAL (just my opinion tho)

Right?? I'm a stan but I dont go ohhh, my girl is les—my boy is gay and whatnot. I actually miss those times when we preach "dont assume someone's sexuality". But that era was long over and stans want their faves to be part of the LGBT community. If you say things such as "dont assume someone's sexuality", you'd be branded as homophobic :// apparently it's a joke and it brings them comfort for doing those even far as making cards to prove their point that assuming sexuality is not toxic since our faves are also supporters. There's actually a famous idol who got into a dating rumor just recently and their fans/shippers are jokingly angry at her bc how could she date a man?apparently that idol screams the gay vibe idk :// that scares me too much knowing I stan this girl group who are all out supporting lgbt. What if they'd date guys and all? Would my fandom go on "joking" that they're disappointed bc they dated guys??

As an actual kpop fan I personally don’t condone it

There should be a clear line between reality and fiction; shipping real life people, no matter who they are, is something I could never get. These are REAL people we are talking about Some celebrities have even spoken out about how they dislike shipping so seeing the hard R18 posts on ships is pretty off-putting for me. Not to mention the delulu fans who take ships as fact/reality :-/

As a kpop stan, I honestly don’t support it. I think it’s alright to ship people as long as the person being shipped ALLOWS it and permits it. For example, BTS, one of the members stated that he felt uncomfortable with the ships between him and his members, so I’d just like to say that please don’t ship or fetishize gays like that. I’m a homosexual myself, so I find it irritating that people actually force kpop idols to do fanservice just because they want to see it. People need to see the difference between reality and imagination, idols are people, human beings too. Not just an item to fawn over.

I'm not a big big kpop stan or anything, but I do love Monsta X so here's my share of opinion.

I don't think shipping real life people together, much less creating sexual things about that ship, is okay, whatever sexual orientation they are, even if they are both openly gay (assuming its a gay ship). But, can people really control what they feel? Of course that is a difficult thing to do BUT that doesn't make it okay. If someone really really ships two idols, then.. keep it to themselves, or between close friends. Unless both the idols in that ship give consent to fanart/any of that sort being public, then its not okay.

Obviously, if two famous people are dating, then you will naturally ship them in support, but if they break up, one thing I find absolutely detestable is when they are like "you should get back together!!" and anything along that line. Like no, its their private lives, I'm sure they do not wish to be shipped together by the public after a break up and especially wouldn't want their new partner to be attacked because of this, which has happened, i don't know if it has happened in kpop but other singers/famous people.
