It's them being on completely different wavelengths that gets me. Reminds me of the sharks trying to befriend the little fish in "Finding Nemo", who couldn't even manage to smile at them without scaring them to death, with those sharp predator teeth.
At least the sharks understood the fish were still scared s*tless. I'm not sure this emperor does realize his "smile" is only scaring the uke more.
