I don't think Maya's character is supposed to be so single faceted as that. I think she's letting anger and jealousy cloud her judgement the way any normal person would. And yeah, it's pretty cliché for the genre, but if a guy had stepped in and done the same thing it wouldn't have made a difference; we'd still hate them.
Yes, you are right, I'm actually hoping the mangaka gives her more depth instead of just keeping her as the annoying female character. :)
Also I know if it had been a guy we will still hate him, but I will have preferred if it had been a guy, because unfortunately most yaoi/shonen-ai mangas use women as the annoying bitches that get between the main characters, I think we don't see enough supporting women in these mangas. :(

That is girl is a complete bitch! I'm so mad at her right now, and Taichi was so right when he called her out on what she said about his friend "not knowing hardships and hardwork", because you don't know what that person has really been through.
Also I'm a little mad at the mangaka for using the "new girl appears, she turns out to be a bitch and gets in the way of the main characters's love" cliché that most love stories have, but it's still interesting :D
