You guys are going on about how corsets arent the devil and shit but,,


you guys do know this is a fictional world and the author probably meant to show the tightlacing culture where women laced their corsets tight enough to become deformed?

It's true that modern practice of historical corsets focusses on the main part (which was mainstream) where the corsets were used for posture and streamlined-ness.

But here they probably focussed on an unhealthy practice of corset use which is not used modernly because, it's unhealthy

    I think that too but I also don’t think that the corset should have been thrown out completely but rather it should have been addressed that tight-lacing is a toxic cultural and that the corset should be worn correctly
