yes but back then corsets were so incredibly tight that there were actual cases of pain/having a hard time breathing etc, also this is just fiction so it’s fine it doesn’t have to be historically correct

don't apologize, you're 100% correct, also historically correct, there may be function to corsets and also today (I wore one when I had back surgery and luckily I was skinny but it was insanely inconvenient... also I didn't tighten as much as they do for beauty) today, but when this story is placed they were all used as a form of control and ppl really competed to have the most thin waste, and women were practically incapacitated - swooning is not a natural thing for women, it's due to tight corsets -The culture was so toxic that many women got sick too.
Um okay this chapter was really unnecessary and shows how the author practically did 0 research into corsets. Corsets are in fact very comfortable and are basically (almost) better than bras in terms of support and posture and comfort. Like many other comments said only very few high-class and "odd balls" would tighten their corsets tight enough to hurt one self. I know it's just a webtoon but for people who actually know about these things it ruins the chapter and sometimes the entire story.
