No one forgot. Its supposed to be a long con where Anya gets closer to his son so that the spies get an opportunity to infiltrate his heavily guarded and tight security. And I think assassination is the last resort. Information gathering and manipulation would come first. Assassination only after he gets too troublesome to keep alive.
