The problem is Haesoo doesn't love Taekyung. Despite everything that happened, he loves Jowoon and Taekyung knows it.
Jowoon is growing and learning and, I think this chapter speaks to how he's viewed everything prior to now. He was incredibly childish, trying to keep everything in a bubble, selfishly keeping everything the way he wanted it. He never really understood that two people have to decide how a relationship goes.
And ultimately, this is a fiction where Jowoon can learn and grow and win back the heart of the person he loves because he's changed. Does it validate his previous actions? No. Never. But if we say that people can never change, why would they?
I think as well what's going to be important is that Jowoon isn't going after Haesoo. He's let him go. Haesoo will likely go back to him if that's how it's going to be because regardless of what has gone on. Haesoo has the right to choose who he loves.
I think this story is largely about growing up and learning to own your actions, not just Jowoon, but Haesoo too. Maybe they grow back together, maybe they don't. But they grew which is a lot more we can say for a lot of other stories out there.
