Some clarification based on the exact dialogue within the novel: the emperor is saying that he loved the MC, and that he was 'blinded' by the MC as well because the MC was so bright. The MC thought (and still thinks) the (past) emperor was so cruel to MC because he hated him/wanted to humiliate the 5 families through him. And the emperor says to MC in the vein of: 'it was always about you, not anyone else, how come someone as smart as you didn't know that?'

Hm, I think the MC said something in this webtoon about his belief that *real* love and abuse definitely had to be mutually exclusive... which is why he thought his brother couldn't really love him if he was willing to use force on him, and probably why he was still looking for other "reasons" (other than "love") to explain why the past emperor was also hurting him.

Yeah, I agree. I think the brother's reincarnation shows how much the emperor has changed from past version to present. The present brother still held him down and raped him like he did in the past and even did it multiple times throughout the years instead of the one time in the past. So the brother didn't learn anything and actually became worse, whereas the emperor realized that was no way to show his love and fixed his behavior.

Glad that it makes more sense. The manwha is a bit confusing, I think. The novel is much, much better and is actually my favorite BL novel currently. Unfortunately it's only in Korean.

Thank you for letting me know. I had no idea there was a novel out there for this. I guess I'll just have to learn Korean. Too many good stories that don't get officially translated or where a novel exists and we never get to read it.

Of course :) I know, so many amazing stories out there that we'll never get to read because of the language barrier. This is in olde/high-level Korean so I struggled a bit but totally worth it.
