some don’t do that but what they do instead is ship people irl and if they find out someone is gay they ship them with other gay men. it happens way too often and there’s often people who admit to doing this stuff on this site.

I'm gonna go off on a tangent here, but just to let others know. I just learned that "fujoshi" is a bad term. I didn't know they used that as a derogatory word meaning girls who fetishize gay men. And I changed my username bc of that, I thought it meant a girl who likes BL. So guys, please don't refer to yourself as fujoshi, it's not used as a good word. And I don't really get shipping real men, especially if they aren't gay. That's why I don't read fanfic. Lastly, I think some people, like you said, just can't differentiate fiction from reality.

Fujoshi means female fan of BL.
2 tumblr users who were known for being TERFs, released the idea that Fujoshi means the fetishising of gay relationships, this is a TERF agenda and transphobic idea. Also, early gamers used, Fujoshi as a mysoginistic slur against women who were shipping male anime or video game characters together. It was used against Doujinshi readers as a slur, 'They are unmarriageable and rotten', and not against BL readers.
Don't the two ideas that,
"Men don't know anything about the hardships of women's daily lives and the biology of women"
(A TERF agenda against trans women)
And,
"Women don't know the hardships of gay mens lives and the everyday homophobia we face and the reality of our lives"
(An argument often used by gay men against Fujoshis)
Sound somewhat the same? Because they are both transphobic. Many women who read BL actually find out that they're lesbian/trans. Yaoi is and has always been a safe way for women to express their sexuality.
Again, Fujoshi is not a bad word, some westerners are just appropriating a language to use it as a slur, that's all.
