perhaps, it was only in manga's world. A manga doesnt picture the real thing in 'this' relationship completely. if you want something different, you may create your own manga :)

lol, you're right. I just wanna say that the ppl in manga are supposedly really, reaaally handsome (for semes) or reaally, out-of-this-world cute (for ukes) so much so that ppl would go gay for them (or they'd go gay for each other :P). The seme keeps pushing cuz he's sexy and he knows it, lol.
Sometimes I wonder why yaoi has to escalate the way it does, with the seme coming on to the uke after communicating a total of, like, 3 times or when the uke very clearly isn't interested; I mean come on, dude, it doesn't work that way in real life - this ain't Sims 3, yo, you can't type in testingcheatsenabled true and drag the relationship bar to high and spam kiss -> make out -> propose steady like the premise of every cliche yaoi ever man that's just not how it w o r k s
