Well I’m not an expert in what manga and Manhwa is but I’m going to guess. Most manga’s just come from pure imagination, or like a storyline they planned for a while, and could still be ongoing. Unlike manhwa’s, most of them are novels that the Manhwa was adapted from, so there’s already like storyline prepared for the author to be able to draw it. And so it’s faster for the author to get it done since she or he doesn’t have to wait for a storyline so it’s faster.
And authors of the Manhwa could’ve been working on a storyline for years too, beforehand. And mangas are mostly from Japan as to Manhwa are mostly from
Korea or China(not sure) also there’s different processes in which art can be done and it’s not easy to draw mangas and Manhwa. Mangas also have to get approved by some kind of “company” so the process is kind of long. Also Manhwa’s, the author that draws it, I think they are like an independent group, or people, that just post stuff. And I say again I’m not sure or neither am I an expert, just pure guessing of reading a LOT for more than 5 years.
I suggest you watch "manben" episodes of various manga authors on how they solely do everything. Besides only the rough sketch is drawn by the author for manhwa including character design and the rest (colouring, quality check, details) are done by others. Besides its easy to add and erase details since webtoons are done on gadgets! Shading techniques for manga is tough!
You might not believe this but even though manga is made with black and white colors, the difficulty of creating a single chapter is way more complex than webtoons.
The author need to make a storyboard, sketch, lineart, coloring (b&w), screentones, typesetting, proofreading, etc.
And manga has a ton of frames compared to webtoons.
Both webtoon and manga is difficult to create in their own way hahaha. I guess. It is not a matter of time, manga and webtoon is way better to read with high quality graphics and the likes ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
I can only make this claim because I helped my friend with her webtoon and i love to make manga just for my and my friends eyes only as a hobby.
i know there are a lot of good answers, but another one is just the publication schedules.
manga usually goes through a lot of steps before it gets officially released. most manga go through printing processes for a hard copy release, only a few manga gets released as digital exclusives (usually doujinshi or extras).
meanwhile most webtoons are uploaded independently online under the conditions of the website or platform. so its faster.
-- just to add, the publication difference also explains why manga chapters are less, and their stories are faster-paced.
mangakas are usually given a set amount of chapters to create an interesting story, if they fail to gain popularity, the manga has to end due to lack of sales (hence rushed endings).
whereas most webtoons take up to 20+ chapters to resolve one conflict or to finish an arc. since it is an online self-publication, the authors are not pressured to meet a quota.
of course, things are different if the webtoon (especially if its a novel adaptation) is being handled by a company.
Sorry for the looooonggg comment but I hope it helped! (=・ω・=)
i dont understand why manga need 1 month of work when manhwa only need 1 week , i think drawing manhwa is harder because its need to be coloured and manga only black and white.
sry for my bad english
