Soviet knew about Rasta ex Lover and their child, the reason Soviet feel pity for her because she is poor and pitiful, it feeds his ego to save the damsel in distress. That's why he always overlooked everything because Rasta have nothing and doesn't know anything, based on Soviet Logic all the wicked thing Rasta did was to survived so it's okay. That's why he always say to Navier 'Don't you feel pity for her'. he expect Navier who born with everything to be considerate and kind to Rasta.
I feel a bit bad for Rashta as well. I mean she is an exslave who is now being blackmailed. To her, the emperor is the fastest way out of her situation and she is going to take advantage of that while she can. She’s also extremely isolated and seems to have no friends or a person to look up to either.
Yeah, she’s a dumb bitch but I think both women are just doing the best they can in a male dominated world.
Edit: actually turns out that she and the viscount’s sons were lovers - not raped - so she is a bit more evil than I thought.
