i reread this mostly to look at the comments and i’m glad that the rape scene is being seen as disgusting and traumatizing and not just normalized. i remember the first time i read this and it really got to me(still does), but the overall story was decent. i still personally wish asahi’s trauma was resolved better rather than just getting over it (he’s still clearly affected but ya know). harada is really good with psychological stories but idk that one scene and the aftermath in this one just wasn’t enjoyable. wish those two rapists went to jail or received some type of punishment since there was evidence ,,

i agree 100%! all of that is true, but i don’t think asahi wanted to come out as say that awful thing had been done because i don’t think he would want to be seen as “weak” or a victim because he was raped. there is overwhelming evidence but a lot of his pride is on the table. showing cops or whoever that video of him being assaulted isn’t something that’s easy to do or that i could see him doing at all. but yeah i wish he hadn’t gotten over the trauma so fast because in reality that takes a lot of time to do.

ah yeah i see what you’re saying. especially since that is a very real feeling real victims experience, probably even more so like you said, with his pride and even his fame. but yeah, i do wish we saw a bit more of him overcoming and not just getting over.. it felt so wrong to the point that the scene didn’t even seem necessary, especially to that extreme. i was thinking that they might bring it up in the second book and show more of how he’s dealing with it/ how it affected him, but it didn’t and just showed asahi having fear towards the brother in one scene. man i want those two guys to get punished so bad but it’s also realistic that they got away with it ...

yeah for sure! i totally wished they gotten punished but it is a sad reality with male victims that they never get retribution out of fear to come out. hopefully we see something that delves more into the trauma and him over coming it i agree!
