6 months later, after the lust and excitement dies down, he's back to being a workaholic and she's feels so lonely she could die. But she sticks it out, not wanting yet another serious relationship to tank once again. Trying to be the perfect girlfriend once again. Understanding and demure.

There's rumors flying around about her jumping from one brother to another, of course. His brother, out of guilt and entitlement, subtly pushes her to be the bad guy in conversations with friends. Cause that's the sort of guy he is. Any mutual friends they had alienate her, compounding her loneliness.

Neither family understands what happened. Especially her side that see she's miserable once again. They try to be supportive, but know this is all going to go wrong again and it shows on their faces.

They never make it to the wedding.

They finally fight. Words are said. She leaves in tears.

He buries himself even further in work to dull the pain, but dreams about her at night; about when things were good. Presley songs make him cry. Her too, but she, eventually, moves on. She's had practice afterall.

He eventually, after a month of misery, gets up enough courage to go look for her and apologize. To make a serious change. But it's too late.

She's found a decent guy finally. He's a car mechanic for race cars. They go dancing on Friday nights and have dinner with his family on Sundays. They enjoy yelling at cooking shows on most other nights or going to the pub for live music.
It's not expensive dresses and dinners. It's not financial stability and a big fancy house, but it's a comfortable, easy, sort of love. The mechanic wonders what such a posh chick like her could like about a blue collar guy like him, but he's exactly what she needs.

Drama ensues.

Original ML is angry at first, (how could she start dating so soon?!) then miserable, then acceptance. He found something precious and then drove it away himself. He has no right to expect her to come home.

He takes another long road trip, which only makes him more miserable, but acts as closure.

Years later, he meets a diner waitress, a single mom with two kids who actually flips his world around. He loves her. He loves the kids. They're genuinely happy together. He finds that comfortable, quiet, sort of love both he and the original FL were always searching for, but could never happen because of the history between them.

Not bad at all. I like the concept of the bemused but happy mechanic. I can also see the brother acting like that. I've definitely met that type.

I sometimes do this. Write out what happens after "Happily ever after".

It's good but honestly you didn't need to do that. This is a good harlequin put your efforts in one of the really bad ones. This was such a good story and you kinda ruined it for me. But regardless you should start writing your own stories, maybe wattpad, girl you have a talent. If you ever do please tell me I will follow you.
