That's what I thought. My theory was that the FL was the real princess who somebody changed her hair color and knocked her out, but then when they showed the real princess's body in a coma, it canceled my theory. But now I think the real princess had died they just don't know it and now she's the FL.
Wait a minute could it be that the real princess is actually the fake one and the illegitimate child(main character) is the real princess?? Like you said why would they mention that ou could dye your hair? She could be another “child of god” as well... and remember when she was on the bed and that main with the purple hair said her eyes resemble someone in a empire/kingdom or something?

Anyways, based on the spoilers, the real princess is the 8th life of Lucien. She can't remember because it's the rule. The real princess in coma hidden somewhere.
- To keep up appearances. He needs to call the fake princess "Your Highness" so no one can catch on. There are servants everywhere--hell, the FL is a personal servant now. So in order to make sure nothing's wrong, he needs to act like she's the real princess.
- she needs to cater to everyone's needs in order to survive. She's only a mere servant, and she's in a palace. She needs to like, not get in trouble. She's also a spy technically so she can't exactly draw attention to herself. On top of that the ML has seen her before so she needs to make sure he doesn't realize she saw him killing the duke and stuff.
- Like the other comments, I assume the princess was her 8th life! But, if she's in a coma and she's not technically dead, why would she be in a different body? Wouldn't that mean the "princess" is technically dead? I don't know, but I do feel like the princess was her 8th life.
She's also trying to be a spy to save the gillbert? Gill-something blonde kid. So she really needs to lay low and gather information the old dude wants in order to save her.
Thanks for the explanation everyone! There's another thing I'm curious about. Is the real princess (not the FL) married to the blonde guy? If not, then where is her parents in all this? Do they know she's in a coma and that there is an imposter princess? Or if they are dead, was he her caretaker or something?

The blond guy is the reincarnation of the boy who Lucien helped in the past and that's why she was punished. I think in this timeline he is her knight/friend.
When she got into coma, she was in the middle of life and death, and her soul split two. One left in the princess and second in Lucien.

Lucien meets the real princess and she wakes up from coma only to tell her to finish the curse cycle and she then dies. Then their soul became one and all the real princess's memories then transfers to Lucien.

This story seems good, but there's so many questions I have. First, why does the ML have to call the imposter princess "highness"? Its not like he has to, she wasn't anyone important to begin with and by calling her that he's basically letting her believe she is the princess. Also, the FL seems kinda meh, she seems to cater to everyone's want when technically she doesn't have to listen to the imposter since she is the servant of the commander but she's always going back. And if that secret passage was supposed to be only known by the real princess and commander I would think it'd lead to a secret place not somewhere where the imposter princess and head maid would be. Also, I think the FL has something to do with the princess, hence the similar names and the sudden mention of brown-something to wash off hair dye in the beginning, like, why would that be brought up when they were talking about food?
