Naturally because the author of this novel has such flat and boring characters that she/he has no idea how to take the plot forward and so, has to keep around these uninteresting one-dimensional charcaters to constantly bring in boring, easily solvable conflicts to rake in chapters... (●'◡'●)ﾉ
