Don’t get me wrong, I’m really enjoying this manhwa so far, but the racial background of the main male lead is throwing me off a bit. Why, in a country full of brown people, was it necessary to have a (half) white, blonde haired, blue eyed man be next in line to be sultan? I don’t blame the elders for wanting Aska to be the Sultan instead. I feel like it wasn’t necessary to whitewash Ashan, if that makes sense

I think that's literally the point. They wanna kill this guy because he looks like his mom instead of his dad. Not because he's abusive, unpredictable, sociopathic, or a murderer, but just because he's white. I mean, y'all just literally agreed that the cousin should be next in line to inherit just because of how he looks. Not saying what the ML is doing is okay, just that maybe he's been forced to become vicious to survive just because "he doesn't look right"

Hmm... that’s a good point, I didn’t think if it that way. Maybe it’s because I’m from the US and there’s such a huge conversation of “white privilege” that I’m thrown off by Ashan, a white-passing character leading a country of people that are stereotyped harshly around the world. Plus there seems to be a romanticization of blond haired blue eyed characters in these types of stories. But Ashan being targeted because of that makes sense
