Spoilers Ahead!!

I literally just binged all 100 some chapters of the novel and its almost five am but I wanted to throw some spoilers at the people who wanted them. Do not read further if you aren't okay spoilers!!

Backstories: ML was the son late emperor and a concubine, but the late empress "adopted him" and abused him. She eventually had him kill his real mother (he was like 10) in order to stop. beating, before she revealed that he'd killed his real mother. This results in severe PTSD that's triggered every so often by certain objects.

Rosemary was raped by her half brother, and her mother concealed it out of embarssment.

The ML connected with rose because they both shared past trauma, and mistook mutual sympathy for love. Later on he feels unable to abandon rose because of this connection.

Plot: hadache time wheeee im gonna try and keep this simple. ML wakes from coma, he believes FL when she claims that rose is the person behind the asssination attempt, but he asks FL to spare Rose's life. Trial commenses, but as both the FL's side and roses side faked evidence, they decided not to continue and just removed roses title as baroness.

All throughout this, Rose and FL are trading blows. Rose blackmails one of the dukes into adopting her (as that duke used to be a really low ranked noble who raped the duchess and made her believe she slept with him out of love) to gain some social standing. ML's affection for rose runs out real quick, and there are several more encounters between him and the queen.

ML has several episodes where he seems to be going mad with grief caused by his trauma. FL accidentally sees it, and ML is shocked later when she shows sympathy for him. Later on, he tells her about his past and she can't contain herself and grieves for him, as she can't contain her compassion. He's stunned by this because Rose didn't mourn for him at all. Now its shown that he sorta favors FL more. At random party rose basically tells ML that shes always been using him and that shes never loved him and he's like "ouch okay".

At some point rose reveals that FL is infertile. FL is like ???? But ML confirms it and FL gets hurt and angry and develops a deep hatred for ML. She tells him she regrets feeling sympathy towards him and that ML is ruining her life just like his mother did to him. Rose gets promoted to official royal concubine.

She kinda goes slightly batshit crazy here, feels like shes given up, starts sending rose presents. ML is consumed by guilt and self hate.

Rose decides to seduce Ml and puts an aphrodisiac in his wine. He runs away and runs into FL. She first tries to call rose or a random servant to deal with him but he refuses so FL locks herself in a room with Ml and they have sex (its as chaotic as it sounds)

Rose gets more desperate. FL's side gathers more shit on rose that they can accuse her of, her sister finds a random love interest, ML develops more feelings, crazy stuff. Rose is found to be communicating with the mistress of the rapist duke. She gets kinda angry and tries to force ML into a trauma induced seizure at a public event with sage. ML was beaten a lot as a kid in a sage flower garden, rose is trying to trigger that.

ML's sister switches out the flowers and reveals that she also went back in time and that her wish was to never associate with ML again.

Rose tries to get FL assasinated, it fails, they bring her to court after ruining all her connections. ML is over her, shes sentenced to death and goes insane before her execution.

Afterwards FL wants to quit being queen, her feeling are conflicting but still mainly negative towards him. He get desperate, begs her to stay, says its okay for you to hate me but I love you. Sister convinces FL to stay, saying how they're in a different timline, and ig he wins her heart over baked goods or smth (did not read the last 10 chapters im too dead for that, sorry.)

Personal thoughts:

Its really slow burn, some unresolved conflicts, lowkey chaotic 90% of the time.

I did like how refreshingit was though. ML broke from the mold of perfect love interest. His fears and doubts are raw and a lot more realistic than in your average shoujo isekai. It isn't as satisfying but i feel like it's more honest, which I appreciate. FL is very strong, independent, able, and she's aware of her priorities. She fights for herelf, doesnt get won over by ML easily for literally 99% of the whole thing, but still has moments of humanity where her fears, compasion, and sympathy shines through. Supporting characters are a bit dull, I like the sisters' relationship. Plot it messy, but I loved how it talked about seperating your current lifefrom the past

You see too many discussions of fans saying they hate a certain character because they were an antagonist in the previous life, but that's like saying murderers and rapists are born evil from the moment they're born. I like how this allows and accepts second chances. Also its fucking hilarious that he won her over with food l m a f o like sameeeee girl. Overall I'd recommend you stick with it, try and be more open minded and I think you'll enjoy it.
