I agree with the OP, and you basically just did too. By saying they "gloss over" the fact that he is a pedophile, the OP is referring to how each questionable scene is played off as a joke. That is how they're "glossing it over", the comical atmosphere distracts you from the severity of the situation if you let it.
You're right, it was disgusting the way he pulled someone's kid to the side under the pretense of just wanting to bandage his knee and then felt the kid up and tried to convince the kid to follow him into the nearby bushes and get naked with him... He is a full-blown pedophile and the people who think he is just a harmless lolicon child appreciator need to just stop pulling the wool over their eyes and accept this for what it is.
