My 1st ever manga was "No Bra". It's an echi, romance, shounen manga. I just started using net at that time. And i didn't know anything about different genres or their meaning. Honestly i don't like that manga now. Echi is 1 of my most disliked genres. However i am thankful to it. Because it brought me the great pleasure of reading manga for the 1st time.
Well, I remembered that I saw a Shoujo manga magazine on a rack in a video store (ahh, the old days) I bought it and the first thing I read was Vampire Knight. But I would have to say, I got into anime first, so without anime, I would have been missing on such great manga!! >u<
For online, it was Gravitation and thus my road to being a fujoshi began~
Definitely Naruto, which I first read in 2001. I feel kinda lost and sad after it finished ╥﹏╥. However I felt happy though cause I get to know the ending while I'm still alive (๑•ㅂ•)و✧. Haikyuu!! is my 1st sport genre, and I love it so much eventhough in real life, I never really enjoy sport ( ̄∇ ̄"). 1st shounen ai manga I come across is Super Lovers and and Warui Series is my 1st yaoi manga, and I really love the Mujihi Na _____ series (。‿。).
The first manga i read was Death Note, one of my friends got it for me as a birthday gift because I love anime and it was right around when the anime ended(I think it was '08), so I read the whole series, then watched the anime. I still really treasure this gift.
My first online manga was Absolute Boyfriend, because the store near me didn't have all the volumes and I really wanted to finish it. Looking back now I wouldn't say it's my favorite shoujo manga, but It's still different from most stories and a good read. I still really like it.
Great idea! Specially for people like me who have no 3D people to discuss with.
I watched anime though not much, and one day I saw that there was a printed version in the library...it was a shojo manga, don't remember which one though. So I read a few mangas after that, all shojos, for a while.
Eventually I grew a little bored since I could tell very quickly what was going to happen, and some MC reacted in a way that was too exaggerated for my tastes...
I stopped for a while, and I don't know why or how, I found my self back in manga world... then I discovered BL, and I wish I could remember how and with which one but I don't. Something super light, probably just bromance, but it lit a fire in me. And now here I am :D
That would be Hana Yori Dango. I have always watched anime (as many other fans like myself), however I never was interested in mangas. I thought that it could never be as interesting as novels. However, I changed my mind when I grabbed Hana Yori Dango and since then mangas have been a part of my readings.
The first novel I've read was "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame" by Victor Hugo. I was 11 or 12, and it didn't have to do anything with the Disney movie version of it. That book was a landmark which marked a turning point in my life because reading is really a wonderful thing. Oh well, no need to expand more. Thank you for picking this interesting topic.
My very first manga was Guru Guru Pon-chan. xD My cousin had one when we were younger and I read it first from her. A couple of years later, as I was scanning for good novels *slash* peeking on the manga section, it reappeared. A different volume tho. To my surprise, it cost only less than 100 pesos. (From the PH btw.) I was like, no way?? heck yeah!!! And then I dashed off to the cashier. It was all pure and innocent in those days. Still good with other genres but I forgot how I ended in the fujoshi army. Oh well.. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ lol
My first anime was Hunter x Hunter. My friend who was big fan of Naruto had persuaded me to watch Naruto but I didn't wanted to after 1 episode so he downloaded Hxhunterxhunter so we could watch sth together. N I loved it!! It introduced me to world of anime! My first manga was Kaichouwa maid sama. At first I was reluctant coz I dnt like comics but I loved that anime so much that I thought to try out manga. I was surprised to find out it was as good as novels. Then I found yaoi n now life is full of bliss ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ヾ(☆▽☆) Sekaiichi hatsukoi is the best
Hmm first anime is between samurai x and dragon ball I have to brothers they pratical forced me for dragon ball but got hook on samurai x ( oh and p.s. I'm a girl :P ) hmm first manga don't remember :(
My first manga...I can't remember if it was Naruto or Lovely Complex. When I read one of them I was 11, so it's somehow hard to remember. But my first yaoi manga was Kokoro by Kanda Neko.
My first anime was Shaman King. I still love it! I was watching it when I was 5 and at that time I couldn't separate reality from fiction, so then I was pround to say my first crush was Asakura Yoh...This sounds so embarrassing now! Σ( ̄□ ̄||)
Now I love how useful the homepage is for people looking for mangas and whatnot but I feel like the potential for community interaction is really interesting as well. So in that vein, I'm going to post the first in a series of discussion questions I'll ask every so often (read: whenever I remember).
Question:
What was your first manga? Note: you can separate them by genre/ medium etc if multiple comics left a lasting memory
Ex: I don't remember the first printed manga I read but the first one I read online was 100% perfect girl that I stumbled across one day in '07 and searched for for many years until I found it again in '11. How about you guys?
