It turns out Kyosuke”s father was homophobic, Kyosuke’s always liked guys, he had a crush on a neighborhood friend who moved away and cried for days, when his mom joked he might have liked the guy his father says something like “don’t joke about something so wrong” so Kyosuke rejects Kasumi so he won’t become gay like him and go down the wrong path to be unhappy. Kasumi is just having an affair to fill a void with someone he feels is similar to him (she’s also dissatisfied w/ life). They break up and Kyosuke and Kasumi decide to date but Kasumi still thinks Kyosuke is only doing it bc he forced him to take care of him and stuff. Kasumi eventually writes him a letter, hides it in Kyo’s bag, wishes him happiness and breaks it off. Meanwhile, although Kyo did amazing work someone else’s proposal is chosen. His chief tells him he didn’t mess up, the guy they picked had connections and was set to win no matter what. They talk about what’s right and wrong and how one’s choices don’t always give a “right end.” Kyosuke later finds the letter, runs to Kasumi and they argue until Kyosuke realizes him trying to set Kasumi on the “right path” made him lonely and hurt him. Kasumi says Kyosuke was always his hero and looks up to see Kyosuke’s actually crying. Kyosuke says he’s not a hero, he’s weak, he thought he was wrong, but even if he is, if the ending isn’t set in stone he just wants to be with Kasumi. The two realize they’ve loved each other this whole time. Insert sexy scene, and it ends with Kasumi visiting an exhibit. Kyosuke has his name written right outside the venue, he comes up to an unsuspecting Kasumi and whispers in his ear. The two smile, I’m crying, end scene.
