I remembered someone posted in qoura were he went back and read chapter 1: “To you, a 2000 years from now”. It starts with Mikasa telling Eren she'll see him again. Eren wakes up, asks her, “when did your hair grow long?”, telling her he had the longest dream ever then cried.
Eren already saw it all, everything that will happen in the future, in details. That's why he cried.
The end was written from the beginning indeed. Isayama Genius you are !
Whatever it is the ending will be a scene between Eren and Mikasa.
