In Japan the legal age is 16, so by law this is fine.

my ex wife was more than a decade older than i am we were a good couple for a long time so really morality does not play much of a factor unless the gap is like 20+ years then is where the issue comes in
i mean it depends on what age you started dating her if she was mature then it's not much of a problem
what i was mainly getting at is IF the AGE GAP is large enough for the person you are DATING to be your own CHILD that is when i see a problem ie a 40+ year old dating somebody who is only 18 that is just wrong to me so really to me morality only comes in with a 20+ year age gap i guess is what i was getting at lol
Not actually true. The limit for federal statutory is 16, but that's just because they leave the specific laws up to the local authorities. The actual legal limit is 18 or 21 almost everywhere in Japan, it's just that if the minor is under 16 it adds federal charges on top of the local criminal statutes. The age difference isn't the problem, it's the ability of both parties to give informed consent. But as far as the legality of the situation is concerned, if she has sex with Misumi, she could potentially have serious legal consequences.
More innocent romance is less illegal, but still potentially pretty creepy and definitely dangerous to her socially if it gets out.

That also may vary from place to place, but my point was more that the idea that the age of consent in general in Japan is low is a misconception based on a poor understanding of the Japanese legal system.
