So is the title "fujoshi" a bad thing or not? Cause I personally thought it's about liking and reading bl and simping for hot non-existent characters?

Yeah you can call it a bad thing. Being a fujoshi means that you sexualize gay relationships. In Japanese it literally translates to "rotten girl" and the term was used to make fun of girls who like BL. I'm not fully sure if this is really what it means so don't take my word for it.

No it's bad, maybe it wasn't at first, but atm it means someone that like bl yes, but they moslty like yaoi which is different than bl in that it is blatant sexualization, fucking for the sake of fucking, it's just gay porn, which is fine, the issue comes in with the character dynamics such as non-consent as a trope and the fetishization of real gay couples as well as shipping real random people. Like when you find those weird fanfictions online of real youtubers. Isn't it uncomfortable to read fantasy porn someone made about a real person? yeah. Anyway, liking bl is fine, but the term fujoshi implies more than that.

I'm not sure if that is the case or not, but please keep in mind that even calling someone an "Otaku" in japan is highly offensive, now imagine "Fujoshi" it's far worse, like being called a perverted Otaku, a rotten girl that sexualizes male relationships. Who knows they may not take it as seriously as we do, but it would NEVER be considered a compliment in japan. That being said, terms can change meaning based on era, language, culture, and if it means something bad where YOU live, chances are you don't want to be called that.

As a final little tidbit we also have to remember that although it's played up in anime for laughs, so are many other things, just like being an otaku which I already mentioned. Anime IN NO WAY reflects the actual thoughts or culture of japan. ESPECIALLY if it's being used for laughs.

So do I, that being said, that was the opinion of one person, and it doesn't speak for all people. And like I said before, it can change depending on where you are. It may be helping the LGBTQ movement in japan which is GREAT if it's true, however it was having a negative effect here. In the west at least, the term fujoshi and the people HERE related to it were for the most part an incredibly toxic community. Like the term banana for instance. Someone asian on the outside, and white on the inside. In asia that may be an insult, but even I didn't know that until recently, and that term was jokingly used within my own family. I think it's important to remember that less than a decade ago it wasn't considered an insult in the west (fujoshi), I even used to call myself one when I was younger, but that changed as the current fujoshi community in the west is mostly comprised of the people mentioned before. If you find the term "Fujoshi" empowering, by all means use it the best you can, and if it could be reclaimed here also that would be great, but at the moment, in the west at least, it isn't a good thing.

And I'm not saying calling yourself a fujo automatically means you fetishize gay men, but It can however, lead to that conclusion when looked at from a distance. The distinction between bl and yaoi doesn't really exist much in japan, it does here though. Which is why NOW I would call myself a "bl fan" and not a fujoshi or a yaoi fan. Try thinking about it in the terms of a slur, I don't like saying it but the word "faggot" for instance, all it means is gay right? by that logic it should be completely harmless, but we both know that's not true.

Hahahah!!!.. thanks!! It's just that someone argued that the title means liking characters not because they're gay but because they're hot also I've watched a ton of animes with characters who are fujoshi and I never thought it was that bad?

Huh? no, the term fujoshi definitely has a direct connotation to gay characters. And you should remember that in anime with Fujoshi main characters it's generally targeted DIRECTLY to that audience, not to mention it's made by the anime industry, the ones who most likely understand the people in these communities without as many misunderstandings. In the end i think saying you like bl is better than calling yourself a fujoshi, it gets the same point across and avoids all misunderstandings, which in the end, is the best thing you could ask for. :)
