Agreed on a lot of your points, Yacchan is really interesting!! I personally think he doesn't like Yuu in that way, and is probably constantly embarrassed and frustrated, and I don't think he likes the part of himself that tries to imitate Yuu, so Yuu being there probably makes him feel even more frustrated.
I really wish the author continued another chapter after this, because we were just about to explore more of Yacchan! But I think he definitely likes Toono. In the last volume in the author's note she says the reader sees Yacchan slowly falls for Toono, and I think it's bc Toono accepts him and they continue being friends, but he's also probably frustrated that Toono keeps bringing the irrational part of him out, like how he kicked his molester away like that. I commented just the other day on my theory of Yacchan having some internalized homophobia, but it's hard to understand Yacchan in some ways...
Oh you have nice questions and as someone who has constantly reread this manga (and as a fan) I’d like to respond XD. Discussions like this are nice. This is of course based on my interpretation of the manga.

Actually Toono’s like is not the like as in romantic like. I was confused about this at first because he has said that he could do it with Yaachan because he really likes his face. This is for their initiation. Toono’s feelings for Yaachan initially was that of admiration + with a mix of friendship in. In my opinion Toono did sort of have an interest leaning to “that” but that feeling never bloomed into full blown sexual and romantic attraction because Toono personality wise is introverted + he is also conservative. Enrolling in that school and ending up in a bitch club was like him being forced out of his shell and it is clear that he is still trying to keep up with it as well as getting used to the thought of dating a guy. Currently he is still really confused about his feelings and his sexuality.
Later on, when he finds out Yaachan’s true self, his feelings of admiration (akin to an idol) to yaachan gradually faded and Yaachan now had became just a normal friend to him. He still admires him and thinks he is goodlooking and manly and etc but that the feeling of Yaachan being an “idol” has completely disappeared.
“I feel like he felt that way because he only wanted to mess with Yuu a little bit, but now he’s in a predicament, that no matter what he does to ‘try’ and shake Toono off and test how far Toonos feelings are, he still likes him, no matter how much of his dark side he showed him.”
He wanted to mess with Yuu alright but it is merely to satisfy his insecurity and prove to himself that he can be better than Yuu at least at one thing. This is the reason why he constantly tries to befriend Toono especially when he found out Toono and Yuu are in the same club. That’s why he keeps on coming on to him. He knows Toono has become attached to him because in class he is his only friend and the only one he talks to. He also thought that he had the upper hand this time because he and Toono became friends first before Yuu and Toono did. Well at least on the surface since you can say on his part it was just a fake friendship.
He doesn’t really want to shake Toono’s feelings off. I think he was even grateful for it even tho he is a tsundere because someone likes him the way he is. Remember that he really doesn’t like his true self because to him he was only able to make friends and be popular because he’s been imitating Yuu. He thinks he is unlovable as he is but Toono made him realize that even tho he is mean and overbearing Toono still likes him as his friend and accepts that part of him.
And this is where Yaachan truly clowned himself. Because he initially wanted to play with Toono to finally win over Yuu but he accidentally fell in love ! XD You mentioned it in your post abt him asking Toono to stay in his room and to sleep beside him and he was making a shocked face when he found himself thinking “at this rate nothing will happen”. And he was like OMG . Plus he couldn’t sleep with Toono beside him because he was so disturbed at realizing and finally admitting to himself that he likes Toono in a romantic way.

He doesn’t have feelings for Yuu. I initially thought he had because of the blush but it turned out he was just embarrassed XD. His feelings in canon are just jealousy and admiration. But I really could feel shippy feels between them in the most recent chap XD

He was angry because Toono didn’t do anything to defend himself. Toono was scared shitless and just froze. Yacchan was angry that if he hadn’t noticed, if he hadn’t tried finding him, Toono would have been raped. Its something people say to someone who’s been harassed or being groped, “why didn’t you fight back?” Same thing.
Remember that time when they were stuck together and those other times when they changed together and their moments at camping? Yacchan realized that Toono is vulnerable and is physically weaker compared to him or to Yuu. So from then on, the feelings of protecting Toono developed in him. He wasn’t angry that Toono didn’t call him. Tbh, at this point he wanted to be a knight in shining armor to impress Toono, taking advantage of such a situation to get “pogi points”.
Yacchan doesn’t intend to hide his true self from Toono anymore. So to him doing something like that wasn’t the issue. The issue was he was angry at himself for fly kicking Toono’s harasser out of instinct when he planned to go there as a knight in shining armor to impress Toono.
Segue, I really think Toono is quite popular with the guys, but no one dares to get close to him because of Akemi’s protection XD.

Wow, I actually didn’t know it was like that, and you’re right now that you think about it. I think in Japanese and East Asian culture when they encounter their idol or someone they really admire, its hard to tell from a western perspective whether they have a crush, or if it’s deep rooted admiration, which essentially could be one and the same, but I agree with you. You see him blush, and get nervous entering in the same dorm as yacchan, i was almost sure he had a crush, but maybe not. But if yacchan was a girl, no doubt it, definitely. It’s like how their a bit of a flowchart of how someone’s sexuality could be slightly ambiguous, I feel like the only one who made him feel that way was yacchan, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s gay. Like for example, most straight people obviously feel sexual attraction towards the other sex, but there’s always, or maybe not, one person that could make you reconsider and I think it was yacchan cute, welcoming and friendly side that pushed Toono to feel that way about him, but now that that facade was smashed, he felt sympathy for him and made a bond with him, and feels like he’s more of a true friends than ever, now that he knows who the real him is, even tho he does feel remnants of how he used to feel about him *referring to the lucky lewds* when he didn’t mind yacchan resting on his lap, and got happy.

I didn’t think Of it in a way where he conflicted with himself, if you put it that way, I’m starting to feel sorry for him that he doesn’t know how to go about and he’s conflicted with himself... :( but it’s the way you worded it saying, Toono seems to be yacchans first love, I agree. It’s ironic and exciting, who would’ve ever known, that kind of wording just makes it seem so much thrilling, thrived the first, And he appears to be hetero, it gives a lot of responsibility to Toono, he snatched his heart away, Toono snatching bitches, kashima and yacchan lol.

You see the thing is, yarichin bu reminds me of a Harem manga in a way, where all the other different characters are attracted to the main ‘boring’ ‘unlucky’ type character, not in a sexual or romantic way per se, but they have something magnetic about them, that you just want to get close to them, I think that’s how, Kashima fell for him at first, with his character, facial expressions and how their approach on life. And thats what the main character doesn’t see about himself, is that he’s caring, friendly even though a lil introverted, he brings about the best of people, like how Toono was able to win Shikatani senpai over, to the point where he gave him a kiss, Albeit he doesn’t give kisses out easily AT ALL.
Toonos a main character and so, is the hero in everyone’s predicaments, for instance helping Jimmy try to get closer with Yuri, and it turned out successful, and of course separating Shikatani away from matsumura sensei. And I have a feeling in the future, he’ll help itome senpai and his possessive dilemma over akemi XD
Oh and thanks for clearing up the “aha” with the baguette scene, that cracked me upppp! He looked like he was gonna combust there and then.

I usually don’t like MAIN characters, because they usually follow that trope were all familiar with, but I looovveee Toono, he has such sass and backbone even ho he’s kinda soft, and he has stirring sense of justice and isn’t afraid to stand up, even tho he a lil shy and introverted, we love him.

I personally really love all of the characters and I honestly surprised myself with how much I like each of them. For me at first yaribu seemed kind of ridiculous (ofc) but I've reread it so many times and each character is so *chef's kiss*. At first I liked Jimmy for weird, complicated reasons, but then I started to pay attention to quieter characters like Itome and Shikatani and holy shitttt is there a lot to unpack for each character???
For me I guess I really like Itome, because on the surface he seems really calm and in the "humping trip" chapters he was a really good group leader, but a lot of people say that he's also secretly a yandere. For the case of him and Akemi, I think the situation is really sad (and Itome's character song too tho.. ToT ) ... I know for Yuri there's a theory that he covers his eyes to hide his emotions, and the only time we really see his eyes is when he's crying and Jimmy sees (this is in chapter 15). I feel like this could MAYBE be the similar case for Itome, considering he's hiding so much of his feelings for Akemi and maybe even his personality...
For example in the beginning of chapter 12 you could see Itome's dark facial expression from what I think is Akemi's POV when they're all worried about Yacchan and Toono, and when Itome and Akemi actually face each other Itome's eyes are closed for the rest of the conversation, BUT when Akemi turns away at the end of the convo, his face is darkened and he's /smiling/. When I saw that it was so jarring, like does Akemi only care that Itome is safe, or is he lying about something? We know from previous chapters and Akemi said himself that he's a good liar so I wonder what he's lying about... and I hope we get more details on Akemi's past relationship with Minami >_>

OMG this is the very reason why I really like this manga (plus for me it is also sorta lie a tomantic comedy) xD. I didnt notice that it was kinda a harem at first until I reread xD Toono is really shippable with anyone. And he has interactions and sweet moments with most of his club members exp prolly Yuri and Itome. (When I reread that one time I noticed his sweet moments with Tamura and those gave me shippy feels XD) . Yuri did try to get it on with him when Toono failed to sleep with someone for their initiation so there is that. XD
I really like his moment with Shikatani too. Omg when Shikatani kissed him on the freaking forehead (!!) and people were shocked I was shookt as well. That was really so very sweet and Shikatani asking to take Toono’s virginity that really gave me so many feelings. But then I thought, both of them really look like ukes so whos gonna be the one to put it in? The thought of Shikatani topping Toono came to my mind and I was shookt again, because think abt it, Shikatani who’s a bottom to his core wants to top Tono . Which for me is equals to Shikatani wanting to be dominant = being overly possessive of Tonooo OMg
And what he did with Toono and the way he said it was so out of character I felt like I was kicked in the gut XD

I think he knows he’s in love because in his mind he really is competing with Yuu for Toono’s affection esp when somehow he ends up witnessing their lovey dovey moments. And in the most recent chapter..... he was so jealous that he blurt our those hurtful things .
I just feel sad for him because he really has to make Toono notice his feelings because if he can’t make Toono see that he sees him as a romantic interest he will never win over Kashima.
I dont have any concrete thoughts abt Akemi and Itome’s relationship, all I know is that their case seems to be complicated. I get why people say Itome is a yandere. In the camping chapter it was made clear that he is more than his kind and quiet appearance and is even shown to be leaning into the obsessive possessive boyfriend type.
Im actually sad for Itome because I dont think Akemi “loves” him. Akemi told Toono that its fine if he goes out with someone even though he doesnt like that person coz maybe eventually he’ll develop feelings. This is a convo they had when Akemi asked Toono why he was thinking a lot about going out with Kashima when he can just go out with him without feelings and wait for those kind of feelings to grow within him. And when Toono told him abt what he thought abt going out with someone without love, his face says it all. He and Itome prolly just have a one sided relationship, in a sense that while they are going out Akemi’s heart is not in it. He even encourages Itome to do it with others. To say this to you bf even if you are in that sort of club I think is bad esp if your boyfriend is someone like Itome.
I think Akemi really liver that senpai. :((( Their relationship will be the one thats full of drama I just know it .
I feel like that’s why they’re a good match; itome and akemi, their both twisted in their own ways. And it’s true, whenever itome looks at akemi it’s with his soft, closed eyes, because he looks intimidating with his eyes open, definitely wouldn’t wanna be on husband bad side in an confrontation ^^.
For me, it’s Shikatani that I began to notice, especially after the trip. To be honest, this is why I feel sympathetic to those who’ve only read the OVA and haven’t read the manga. When I first watched he Ova to be honest, I didn’t think he’d that much dimension, and be simply comic relief, but that didn’t seem to be the case. He takes care of his kouhai properly, and I live for that side for him! And he’s super cute too, deffo boyfriend material, too bad he got black mailed like that, to be honest he seems like that he’s be the most softest, I feel like he trusts people too easily, despite what your first impressions, kudos to the author, for writing all characters so unique, different and likeable which is hard, you knew.
It’s a bit like Gakuen Heaven, where the main character has a chance with anybody, and they have their moment with every character, to appease to fan service, or maybe not.
Yesssss, Toono and Tamuras personalities really compliment each other, I love that toonos almost, always the straight man in their encounters, but as soon as Yuri is added to the equation it always gets hilarious

Awww, wow i didn’t think of it like that, and before you even mentioned the fact that Akemi encourages Itome to be polyamorous, if u can call it that, I thought of the scene where he push Toono to start dating kashima, and then attempt to develop feelings for him later in the relationship.

Hes the ukiest but I like how brazen he is whenever he announces it. Plus I also like to see a possible ship with him and Kashima XD if things will not work out with Toono maybe sensei could give us a treat with Kashima/Shikatani.

No it was not yet explained. But in the flashbacks, Akemi really looked so happy being with that senpai. Like bruh, try checking it and you’d be surprised how sweet and in love he looks. I would even go as far as saying that maybe Akemi’s flippant behavior towards commitment and loyalty completely changed because of that breakup. Plus it looks like Itome liked him from the beginning and was trying to pursue even tho Akemi was with the senpai (this is based on Itome’s facial expression in the flashback)
Surprisingly, Itome ended up being a hot top. I was like, dang Akemi, what are you doing, you dont know what you’re missing. I want them to be reversible. Hay I also want a Shikatani x Itome one

Theyre both definitely twisted in their own ways that complement each other. On the other hand, I think Shikatani is really like... "pure"? He seems to have a really sweet side like how he still retains some feelings for his first love and is pretty kind to Toono starting the camping trip. I just think so much happened to him that he has to be skeptical of others but I'm glad yaribu is there for him to back him up. If you read the extra about Shikatani, do you think he will ever write a letter back to his first crush? It left off on a melancholic note, so hopefully the author will continue unless she decides to keep it angsty. I kind of love how Toono and him are friends, along with Toono and Tamura. I definitely think Itome liked Akemi well in the past, even when Akemi was still with Minami (I think that's his name?). But it also makes me wonder what Akemi's gone through to make him kind of turn a cold should when it comes to Itome and polygamy, because you're right- Akemi looked very much in love with his ex in the picture? Maybe he got cheated on or something by Minami / was forced into the mentality that because he's part of yaribu he has to be poly.
Yea to be honest, if they were both switches it would be cute and equal like with Yuri and Fujisaki. Who knows, Itome is hot either way ╮(￣▽￣)╭

He said something along the lines of didn’t you know (werent you informed) something something about something Minami etc etc .. That’s the only thing I got. I speculated Minami was there somewhere around (I think I remembered he was best friends with the teacher’s bf so its possible). When he said something abt Minami Akemi made such a long face. Ohmigawd... poor babiii that Minami guy prolly really hurt him because he makes that face. Plus, opened eyed Itome is seriously hot

Yacchan is one of the most well written teen characters in a bl. His feeling are so complex and realistic. He’s impulsive and the way he’s written fully encapsulates who he really is, he’s given a lot of internal monologue because he still has baggage, and nonetheless, his feelings a mystery and can be taken whoever direction you feel like.
Id like to have a mini discussion on Yacchan as a character, I can gush on him over and over if I had the time.

Yacchan felt like he was having revenge on Yuu and gave him a bit of a thrill, because it was the first time he ‘rebelled’ and had the upper hand between himself and Yuu, because he’s always been in silent competition with him.
Now, his character: When Toono discovers his real character, in the panels he is shown irritated, after Toono reveals he still had feelings for him, despite him being mean to him during the trip, you can still gets a little angry, like why do you still like me? Even after I tried so hard to show you and only you, my true colour colours you still fall for me, he’s a lil angry. But to me it looks like he’s that tsundere angry, but angry at himself in a way. I feel like he felt that way because he only wanted to mess with Yuu a little bit, but now he’s in a predicament, that no matter what he does to ‘try’ and shake Toono off and test how far Toonos feelings are, he still likes him, no matter how much of his dark side he showed him.
He feels reluctant to take the next step to fully snatch Toono away, like how they were lying in the bed together, and Yacchan had the given opportunity to get close but he still didn’t. I feel like he felt guilty that he had the power to steal him from Yuu, and toy with Toonos feelings at the same time, after genuinely befriending him this time, after all they have a special relationship. If word gets out of Yacchans real self, he’s probably get ditched, so that’s why he feels reluctant to hurt Toono like this, even tho Toonos probably the only that accepted him, after being fake.
But I had a feeling that he lowkey likes being in Yuus shadow, you know that feeling when you feel like you have the power to surpass you rival, i feel like that’s what he felt. It’s thrilling, but doing something out out of spite doesn’t make you feel good, you want to remain in competition with them.
2. But I’m confused about is: has Yacchan fallen in love with Yuu? Because he’s claimed that’s who looked up to, I mean he erased his own personality to emulate Yuu, but has he fallen in love? He’s said he had respect for him and whatnot, and when he was seen blushing, we all know the reason, which must’ve been the most embarrassing moments, urghhh poor guy
So can someone properly explain if he genuinely has feelings for him or not? I know he has deep admiration for him, but does it go further than that?
2. Also, there’s also that scene. When that time that boy who molested Toono comes back for the second time, Yacchan saves him by saying in his head, that he planned to come and save him slowly like a knight, but sent him flying with a punch instead out of instinct. And he gets angry that Toono didn’t ask anybody for help, and he kept quiet about it. Did he angry because he knows Toono likes him, and he still didn’t call for him, like how you call the name of the person you like, in hopes they come running (I’m assuming that’s what he would’ve done if he was in Toonos place)? Or was he angry that he had to show his ugly side him to angry again. He blushes and there’s the panel where he’s so flustered to the point where he can’t even see that he isn’t even the baguette properly loool, was he embarrassed that he tried to be like Yuu so much, and Toono didn’t even get that impressed or anything. Or is he angry that he can’t bring himself to steal him away with being himself and tries so hard to emulate Yuu, but he fails, but is the fact it it’s his bad side that Toono properly likes best.
3. And there’s the scene at the beginning at chapter 17, where Yacchans like, ‘if Yuu wasn’t my opponent than I’d probably be doing better but...’ Doing better in what. Has Yacchan fallen for Toono, I don’t understand!
