It's not unheard of for a queen to adopt/claim a concubine's child as her own, especially if she's unable to have a child herself. In other cultures the queen/empress even celebrates when a concubine has a boy child with the king/emperor for the sake of strengthening the dynasty.
History was really, really shitty towards women whether high- or low-ranking. Their worth is only measured through their ability to have (male) children.
That said, for Sovieshu to force Navier to acknowledge or even claim the child as "theirs" is uncalled for and assholish.

i understand and i am aware it isnt unheard of i just hated with my entire soul the manner in which he said it. Yes the empress could celebrate the child of trashta. But if you look at everything she went through. how much of a face she had to put on to seem fine after being hurt and beaten by her husband. Why should she?
It sounded like a command and he didnt even try to have the conversation in private with his wife instead he spat on her face infront of kafman. that is an insult in itself.
