Im surprised how highly many people regard horikoshi....when they dont even read other manga to have a solid comparison. First of all,the story is literally a joke in front of actual good ones like Berserk or V... fay96

sometimes I think we're expecting too much of people who are probably children reading this manga as a first contact with shonen, manga and/or comics. I'm worried for the few adults i know who are still defending this character and who thinks it's alright to have female characters being tossed to the side of the spotlight and not having the same amount of development simply for being female... that and the same face/body syndrome only the female characters seem to have... I think that there is a pretty good amount of character development for a variety of characters especially when you compare it to other mangas.

i did read everything, but apart from mentioning the last chapters you and the other person who replied to me seem to be unable to give me solid evidence of this supposed of this friendship you guys keep saying... sophtt

Ok then. It's not just stuff that happen in the manga you should think about. It's also stuff that happen in the Anime (movies included). Like for example in the newest MHA movie.

    (Spoilers btw)

    1. Bakugo and Midoriya fight one of the toughest villains they've ever fought. At shopping there is a possibility of Midoriya dying and losing One For All. This leads to one thought that crosses his mind. Midoriya then gives Bakugo One for All, obviously you could tell they had a deep connection and trust. In the end Bakugo forgets because of the amount of physical damage he went through. But even after forgetting somehow he and Midoriya become closer.

    2. In the Anime there is a specific ending song that plays. The song is very well expressed about many emotions of compassion, trust, promise, and hope. I don't remember which exact episode (it's the one where they all are dressed in more medieval times and Bakugo has a dragon) but, it is 100% Canon that the song is how Midoriya feels towards Bakugo.

    3. When they fought with each other, Bakugo opened up about how he was really feeling and you could tell they both wanted too fix their problems. And they did. Bakugo got the trust of Almight and Midoriya as well as a weight lifted of his shoulders. They worked together better afterwords too.

    6. There were some extra episodes put into the anime where they were doing her traing.
Todoroki and Bakugo were stuck in a building and needed a plan to escape. Midoriya heard of this and left Uraraka to go escape while he helped them. Basically Bakugo thought of a brilliant plan to escape, Midoriya (on his way there) knew that Bakugo would do so and figured out what he would do WORD FOR WORD. If that's not connection and trust Idk wut is. In the end he made it in time and they worked together and Bakugo got injured. He would not let Todoroki even get near him but, he let Midoriya help him all the way out!

    5. Lastly, going back to what the other person said, the last few chapters show how they've cared and trusted each other since the beginning.

Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk LOL (=・ω・=)

I never doubted how Deku felt about bakugou...for me it's clear how he always put bakugou in this pedestal because he always felt unworthy of OFA and saw bakugou as one of the strongest, so point 1 and 2 you make are actually about DEKU, not BAKUGOU. Point 3, that fight is always used as THE evidence of bakugou growth and i must agree it was certainly a step, but after that fight with midoriya he went back to act the exact same way as before like nothing happened so i really don't see how it changed him (?). And how did they fix their problems btw? What i saw on that fight was more about midoriya learning he could not always see himself as inferior to bakugou if he wanted to be number one someday, because thinking like that you are insulting not only yourself but those who view you as strong and/or equals. And i can accept Bakugou as having all along thought of deku as his equal or rival in some way but i think friend is a stretch.

About point 6 [shouldn't it be 4?], i saw that episode. Bakugou vehemently refuses BOTH deku and todoroki, but deku keeps insisting to help him and even grabs his arm, so bakugou eventually accepts, but not after calling deku his crutch. Again i think this speaks more about deku himself than bakugou seeing him as a friend.

5.tho i still don't think they were friends before, these last chapters point out how bakugou saw deku as an equal, and came to respect him in some ways. Respect is not equal to friendship though, but i think if bakugou survives [what he most likely will] they will finally have a change to have a true friendship

i'd recomend you read fullmetal alchemist if you haven't yet... it's a shonen with an actually good character development for the tsundere character from the start, has an awesome political criticism on war and it's effects to people, has "magic", and women are treated with importance and having agency and goals that not involve the MC. Apart from uraraka and touga's goals, here in bnha we see no other info about the other women's goals and motivations. But even uraraka when there's really important stuff happening she is sidelined like the other women, only appearing to worry if deku and the others are ok. it's not enough to show us how strong they could be while in the "safety" of school.
I wish horikoshi showed ANY women being relevant in battle for more than a couple pages. Even mina ashido was used as plot device to make kirishima shine brighter. Mountain lady appears only to try to hold off some stuff now and then to show her pretty behind to the readers but mostly does nothing in the main fight. That dragon lady too in that final fight against overhaul, she and the other girls in the scene were hold off in the first battle agains some minor no-name thugs and only appeared again at the end to deal with the aftermath

Ever thought that the other girls just don't as strong of goals to build on. Also there are a ton of the side characters that don't get built on.

yeah, they don't have...but that's because of horikoshi and his misoginy. I don't need all the characters to have development, but i'd like the women to be treated as more than just side characters all the time. Why intead of kirishima we couldn't have uraraka [if she's the only one horikoshi plans to kind of develop] thinking about her motivations more and having a big fight against a villain that recognizes how strong she really is? That's all because horikoshi is misogynistic

Ngl I don't really want to see that since she's mostly irrelevant to the actual plot, plus if you wanna something like that then read a different manga.

but that's the thing my bro, she's irrelevant because horikoshi wrote her like that...kirishima was irrelevant too until horikoshi made him relevant. I don't have to stop reading just because i have some issues with it lol i don't hate the manga, i just think horikoshi is misogynist, which he is. I do read other manga and books tho, which gives me more backing to criticise than ~only~ my opinion

Anyone who thinks Kacchan is toxic doesn't understand the comic. His personality matches his quirk, explosive, fierce, passionate. He's fucking amazing. Vort

In his current state he is insincere, predictable, contradicting or ambivalent at best. He has potential to be a good character but Hirokoshi fails to write characters in a way that creates a storyy
